Embedded Systems Developer (m/f/x)

 

Introduction

As a family business with nearly 40 years of experience, GOTTSBERG Leak Detection (GLD) is a leader in developing high-quality, reliable pipeline leakage detection systems. We are driven to create technologically advanced products that combine ease of use with absolute reliability.

To help us continue this mission, we are looking to strengthen our R&D team in Oststeinbek (near Hamburg). We offer a collaborative environment with flat hierarchies and are seeking a dedicated Hardware and Software Developer to join us.

Your Responsibilities

  • Product development & product maintenance: Planning, design, and integration of reliable hardware and software solutions with a focus on embedded systems/RTOS.
  • Working closely with customers to further develop components and analyze issues.
  • Creating professional circuit designs and PCB layouts for electronic assemblies.
  • Ensuring functionality through calculations, simulations (e.g., with SPICE).
  • Commissioning and debugging prototypes and continuously developing existing components.
  • Meticulously creating and maintaining the necessary technical documentation for your projects.

What You Should Bring

  • A successfully completed degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a comparable qualification.
  • Good knowledge of C for embedded programming (AVR, ARM Cortex-M).
  • Solid knowledge of RTOS is required.
  • Familiarity with EDA software like KiCad for schematic and PCB design.
  • Practical experience in digital and analog electronics, including the use of a soldering iron and measurement equipment.
  • Experience with a scripting language (ideally Python) and version control systems like Git.
  • A structured, independent, and goal-oriented approach to your work.
  • Good command of German and English, both written and spoken.

Hardware and Software Developer – R&D Specialist (m/f/x)

  • Ensuring functionality through calculations, simulations (e.g., with MATLAB/Simulink), and hands-on team testing.
  • Commissioning and debugging prototypes and continuously developing existing components.
  • Working closely with customers to further develop components and analyze issues.
  • Meticulously creating and maintaining the necessary technical documentation for your projects.

What You Should Bring

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of C for embedded programming (AVR, ARM Cortex-M).
  • Good knowledge of C# in the .NET environment for desktop applications.
  • Familiarity with EDA software like KiCad or Altium for schematic and PCB design.

Software Developer (Desktop, Web & Device Interaction) (m/f/x)

Your Responsibilities

In this role, your key responsibilities will involve:

  • Engineering and maintaining intuitive desktop applications for the Windows operating system, providing comprehensive tools for device configuration and data analysis.
  • Building and deploying local web applications using modern technologies (like Python/Django, Node.js, HTML, CSS) to create user-friendly interfaces.
  • Working with C/C++ to develop software for our microprocessor-based embedded systems, helping to connect our hardware and software.
  • Being involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through to implementation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Contributing to a positive user experience (UI/UX) by implementing clean, functional interfaces and writing well-documented code.
  • Collaborating within an agile team to continuously improve our products, codebases, and development methodologies.

What You Should Bring

  • Experience in developing native Windows desktop applications; familiarity with Microsoft frameworks (e.g., .NET, WPF) is highly valued.
  • Experience in web application development, including backend (e.g., Python/Django, Node.js) and frontend (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) technologies.
  • A good foundation in C/C++ programming to interact with our hardware.
  • A solid understanding of embedded systems and microprocessor programming (e.g., ARM Cortex-M, AVR) is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, especially Git.
  • A collaborative, problem-solving mindset with experience in debugging, troubleshooting, and code reviews.
  • Good documentation and technical writing skills.
